Here is the first picture taken of our new little....GIRL!!! We are still in shock that we are actually adding a tiny princess to this home of adorable running, tackling, wrestling boys (including John!) This morning at 7:30am we all, (yes all of us...Ryder and Cole as well!) sat in the ultrasound room waiting to see the first glimpses of our newest little one. Ryder and Cole sat still and mesmerized at the screen as the technician moved the device over my growing tummy. She even commented halfway through..."Wow! You boys are so calm!"

She started at our baby's head as she identified her brain, moved down to count all four chambers of her heart, she went on to count leg bones, all ten toes and looked at her growing spine to find a healthy little body all around. The she asked if we wanted to know if this little one was a girl or boy..."Yes!" I said, "We're all very excited!!!" So she found the right place to reveal that answer and said, "You're going to have a little GIRL!" "What? Are you sure?" I said with a smile of disbelief. "Oh, yes." She confirmed. I'm very sure!"

So now I have a picture to prove that the our newest little one will be a girl...a sister...a daughter. Amazing. A tear ran down my face as I sat looking at the rest of her growing body. She was wiggling around the whole time, with her little hand under her chin as if to say..."I'm real cute already!" I was amazed and still am that the Lord would continue to bless our family with the children he has. To Him be all the glory!

Last night I sat with John and we talked about how great it would be to have 3 boys...I wanted to prepare myself for this very real possibility of have not 2 but 3 incredible boys! I was ready to hear "boy" more than ever before. It was almost as if God was waiting for my complete contentment...true contentment with any gift He decided to bless us with before I was able to hear the news of our little girl on the way. I'm so glad of his timing. Being 22 weeks along in my pregnancy, her development was advanced enough to see her growing body very clearly and after hearing news of Cole's hearing loss and how special God has created him, I was eager to meet the next member of our family...not a just a girl, and not even just a "healthy" baby...but OUR baby. The one God intended for us to love and raise. Meeting her this morning was an indescribable joy for all of us.

So now we prepare for our little girl to come...Ryder walks around saying "After Christmas, the baby will come out! I will hold her like this when she's crying (he holds his arms in a rocking position) and when she needs to eat I'll give her to Mommy!" Good plan Ry! He's also decided that he'll hold the baby because Cole is too big for him to hold now, so I'll hold Cole and he'll hold the baby...very smart boy, a wonderful helper and big brother x2...almost! What a blessing for Cole as well...no longer the youngest, he'll have a little sister to teach how to throw a ball and run FAST away from her boisterous older brothers! What a joy...my heart is filled.

I am thrilled that you will know the joys of a daughter as well as your sons. To experience both has been a blessing that my words are inadequate to express. It is amazing to witness how different your daughter is from your sons from the very beginning. It is a blessing and an adventure! Congratulations!

    Hi Growing Burdett Family!

How exciting to finally read your blog and then to be blessed with getting to see a picture of your daughter when I got on it. Wow! We think about you often as I have left up in our home pictures of all of you. Josh and Noah talk about Ryder and Cole and ask me how they are doing. We are praying for all of you and John, Garth misses getting to talk to you on Sundays but is praying for you and your new job! Know that we love and care about you and that we are praying that ALL of your adventures are blessed by HIM!!!

    Love,

    Val
