If you've ever been pregnant or known someone who was, you may be familiar with something that happens in the 3rd trimester called "nesting." It's always sounded a bit funny to me, since I felt a bit like a bird gathering sticks to build my nest, but it is definitely something that happens to most mothers-to-be. Close to the time of your new arrival, you have an overwhelming desire to get everything ready! This coupled with my normal overall desire to have everything in it's place most of the time makes for something I call...EXTREME NESTING!!! During this time I'm usually running in circles around the house with ideas bursting in my head of how we could re-arrange things to be better for our incoming arrival! These decisions not only affect my new little girl, but also her brothers who will be getting a new shared, "brother room." To make space for her tiny little body to sleep!

Well, after my in-laws left, John had a free weekend (no football game...miracle!) and with the bunk beds sitting in the garage, the ingredients were all there for the perfect storm....my nesting instincts kicked in big time and with these instincts by the way, comes a rush of energy that I don't normally have! Watch out everyone...Extreme Nesting: Phase 1 was inevitable and commence it did :) The process may have driven everyone a bit batty but the end result is fantastic!

Here are some of the things that happened in a whirlwind during this fabulous phenomenon...
  • Bookshelf moved from Ryder's room to the "play area" in the living room to make room for bed #2 during Thanksgiving...thank-you Derek! We can't bunk the beds quite yet, so they both need a place to be on the floor for the time being...
  • Books organized into theme based bins...thanks to my bins left over from teaching 3rd grade! I knew they'd come in handy!

  • Toys organized and bins labeled with words and pictures so the boys can put them away by themselves! (I'm starting to think of ways they can be more independent with #3 on the way!)

  • Cole's closet cleaned out and all my "boy" clothes boxed up ready to give away! (0-12 months in bins by size)

  • Through cleaning of kitchen, dining area, "school time" table and living room...

WHEW! Needless to say I was pooped at the end of the day but I cannot tell you how therapeutic and fabulous it felt to get all that done!!! Ryder's room looks a bit bare now, but in 2 weeks, Derek will come for Thanksgiving and we'll work together to paint and assemble the beds Papa made, and get them in the boys new room :) Yippee! Mama is happy!

you are so funny! Did I ever mention that I think you're gifted in DETAILS & organization. What an inspiration - way to put those nesting instincts to productive use!!!
