John couldn't WAIT to decorate for Christmas! The day after Thanksgiving was bed building day and then the day after that we got our Christmas Tree and decorated it and our house :) Ryder and Cole LOVED it as Mommy put the lights on and they helped with the ornaments. We only lost one glass ornament out of the whole event which isn't too bad considering many more made it on the tree :) Afterward we sipped hot chocolate and helped Daddy procrastinate writing his 30 page literature review due Thursday as we looked at the tree and sang Christmas carols as a family :) He's not hard to convince!
It was fun reminding Ryder of why we celebrate Christmas. When I asked him if he remembered, he said "For stockings and presents!"
"And whose birthday do we celebrate?" I asked hoping he had some recollection of last Christmas!
"Jesus!" he said after thinking a while.
"Yes!" I said, thankful Jesus was somewhere in his memory of Christmas festivities from last year! We're going to have a big birthday party for Jesus this year...we can't wait!!!
This morning, right after we decorated the inside of our house the night before, God dusted us with a Winter Wonderland to complete the picture! We woke up to 2 inches of soft snow covering our house, neighborhood, streets and town! It was gorgeous! We've always traveled to snow, praying we could catch a glimpse of it falling as it does in the movies and been blessed a few times to have those prayers answered...but never at our home. This was a first that we will remember for a long time :) Enjoy the pictures of the boys and John playing in the snow in our front yard...snowballs and sleds for all!!!

Wow - your first snow!!! :) Congrats!
Snow is so much fun. We always had to undress in the bathtub after a fun day of snowman making and fort building. My family always made a birthday cake for Jesus on Christmas Eve. In the beginning, my mom would make it and then Brian and I would decorate it. As we got older, we would do both. I love traditions. It's so wonderful to bring those special times to our own families, and to remember what Christmas is all about.=)
It is hot hot here in Singapore, and we wish we could have some of your snow!! The kids would have so much fun with it!
Oh, I wish you could take a look at our Advent calendar too - maybe you'd have a suggestion to make the ribbon a little more secure, it's weighed down by the treats now and is sagging a little... I could have the kids take the weight off by giving them the treats, but obviously, I'm not going to! Ha!
Danice! I love your decorations and the snow is perfect! We are gathering our cold weather clothes and getting excited to come see you!
Oh my goodness, picture perfect!! How fun to play in the snow and I love your decorations!! Yeah Jesus, thanks for giving us so much to celebrate in this Season!
