I'm in the hospital waiting room...I just sent Cole off with two wonderful nurses and our audiologist we've grown to love so much. 3 hours from now, my baby will have two cochlear implants under his skin behind his ears. I have been feeling so excited up to this moment and now as I sit and wait, I am overcome with the emotion thinking about Cole's sweet little head undergoing surgery and him being under anesthesia for so long. John and Ryder are on their way to join me...until then I decided to check my e-mail in the waiting room and was met by these encouraging words from my friend, Kathy in California...
She was at one of our church's advent service's last night where she heard this song sung by Derek Rice...our church's worship leader and one of our closest friends. The Lord has gifted him to write songs which draw others toward God in every season of life. Here are the words she heard that reminded her of us...
Even though the storms may rage
I will choose to walk by faith
In your hands my life I lay
God my Saviour
(chorus)
Yet I will praise Him
Yet I will glorify
Oh my God my saviour
He's my strength
Sometime I'll figure out how to put the song on here so you can here it...it is a powerful reminder of our call as believers in the Most High God, to praise Him for His goodness always. There is never a moment when doubt in His love for us is justified. I just opened my bible to the Psalms and this is where my finger fell...
Psalm 32:6-8
Therefore let everyone who is godly pray to you while you may be found; surely when the mighty waters rise, they will not reach him. You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. I will instruct and teach you the way you should go; I will council you and watch over you.
We can trust God's Word because Psalm 33:4 says...
For the Word of the Lord right and true; He is faithful in all he does.
The Lord is caring for us now...as Cole is asleep and Dr. Novak is operating on him. His songs of deliverance and words of hope breathe life to me in this moment. Praise the Lord for He is good...His love endures forever!
When we are home later, I will add a entry complete with pictures and a complete update of our sun-up to sun-down surgery day! Until then we wait and pray...

Praying for you, for Cole, for his Dr.'s and medical team, for Ryder and John too!
"Be still and know that He is God".
Derek and I just read this blog entry together... the Holy Spirit is so good and so faithful to comfort us and strengthen us through the body! We're humbled that God would use Derek's song JUST FOR YOU today! :) He is so good!
