I know my family loves it the most when my updates include funny Ryder moments and sayings, since he's at the age now where I feel like I need to have a tape recorder running constantly to capture all the hilarious things he says!!! Here are a few we've heard lately...they never seem as funny written down as they are coming straight from him, but I hope you get a little chuckle anyway!
"I'm in Charge!"
I asked Ryder to put his shoes on when he was playing around and he said,
"Don't be silly mom...I'm in charge," with a slyish grin as he shuffles over to the shoe basket. (We think this came from the emphasis we always place on Mommy and Daddy being in charge and NOT him when he has times of not listening well! Funny to hear him turn it right around when he'd rather listen to himself than us :)
"Puter Games"
Cole was trying to climb the chair in front of the computer and I lifted him down saying he can't use the computer yet. Ryder was on the couch and said, "Mom, when Cole gets my age, he can play 'puter' games." I love how he calls the computer "puter" and how excited he has become about doing "big boy" things like his computer game he loves to play which helps with letter sound recognition. :)
Darkout Spiderman
We were all in the car...the boys and my mom in the backseat and myself in the front while John ran into Blockbuster to get a video. I saw a poster in the window for the Batman movie "Dark Knight" and I asked my mom if she had seen it. Ryder (who loves to be involved in whatever is going on) says,
"I saw 'Darkout Spiderman' with Anthony and Jacob."
"Really?" I asked knowing that there was no such movie and no such moment but curious to see where this would go, I proceeded to ask..."Where did you watch?"
"We were at Jacob's house and we watched 'Dark Out Spiderman' and it was a little bit scary but we just watched it."
My mom asked, "Who was with you...any Mommy's or Daddy's?"
"No, just me and Anthony and Jacob."
I asked, who turned the movie on for you then?"
"Me and Jacob just got up and turned it on and Anthony just stayed on the couch..."
(Then he got a smirk on his otherwise very serious face and said...)
"...and we ate fruit roll-ups and cookies and more fruit roll-ups!" followed by giggling as he knew that if Mommy was there he wouldn't of had so many surgery treats!
We were all cracking up as he told this story with such authority, wanting his own movie story in the midst of us talking about movies we'd recently seen! What an imagination :)
Bath time Stretches
The boys normally take a bath together...tonight however, Ryder took longer to finish his dinner and we wanted to be out the door shortly to get to church on time for his Rainbows class he goes to every Wednesday night. I told him he'd need to hurry if he wanted to take a bath before we went knowing it's one of the boys favorite times of the day together. Ryder got up from the table, walked over to the bathroom door looking at Cole and all the toys floating in the bath and said, "It's okay mom, I'll wait to Coley gets out because I want to stretch out my body." We all died laughing!!! It's true...he doesn't have much room to stretch out when they're both in there! Funny to think he's already looking for ways to be more comfortable...must be human nature!
Gratitude
Ryder has recently become overwhelmed with thankfulness during certain times of the day here are a few cute expressions he's said out of the blue on his own...
Walking up to the dinner table looking at the food..."Sank (thank) you Mom!"
Walking in the house from a trip out, "Aahhhhh...this is a GREAT house mom."
Response to Cole
As we're eating dinner we always comment on what a great eater Cole is and Ryder will say... "He's our little muncher cruncher!"
Cole LOVES Ryder and often walks up to him to give him a big hug around his neck and Ryder will say, "You're so cute you little monk!" (We call Cole monkey and he shortens it to monk!) or he'll say "Hi cutie!"
Bad Guys
Ryder has recently had a facination with Bad Guys and Good Guys and one night when they were praying told John he was afraid of the Bad Guys.
John said, "Don't worry Ryder, God gets the Bad Guys..."
Ryder asked, "God just SMACKS the Bad Guys like that?" (making a smacking motion in the air)
"Yeah," John said smurking, "He gets 'em!"
That's it for now! We'll post more funny moments as they come and we remember!

So cute!!! =)
Hi Danice,
I was at work today and Maria showed me this blog of yours. I came home and read it and found myself in tears. I am so excited for you and your family. I know God will continue to bless your family and Cole through this time. I miss you and think of you often. It's so neat to be able to read about your experiences since you've moved. You and John are such an inspiration and your stories are so uplifting. Ryder sounds sooo cute with his little stories and Cole is so cute. I can't wait to hear more about Cora and see pictures. I have been wanting to send you something so could you email me with your address? God Bless you guys and tell John Hello. My email is gelbell@aol.com Take care Danice :)
Love, Janelle
