We had a great time at the lake 30 minutes from our house last Sunday with friends!
Can you see how high the corn is getting? (I had to say that...I now live in the Midwest!)
The above picture is of the road we took to the "beach" last Sunday after the kids woke up from naps! We went with our small group from church to hang out, BBQ, swim and boat :) I put "beach" in quotes, because as you can tell by the picture, the road we took looked a little different than the one we used to take to the beach growing up in CA! Even after warnings from our friends to brace ourselves for a IL lake beach experience and the differences we'd encounter from our experiences in CA, we had a great time!!! The kids had a blast with their friends, Ryder had his first tubing adventure with his friend Lanie, and the girls even got to sit and drink Starbucks Frapuccinos for a bit - courtesy of Malissa and Curtis! What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon!
Some differences between CA beaches and IL beaches...
1. CA water is a bit more clear :)
2. IL beach had a grassy area to set up! Loved that!!!
3. IL beaches were much less crowded :)
4. CA beaches have "white" sand while IL beach had a gritty dark sand
5. The water was MUCH warmer here in IL! (that may or may not have been because of the nuclear power plant nearby!)
6. It was fun swimming with Cora and Cole in the water by myself, since there weren't any waves crashing down on us!
So there you have it....2 totally different beach experiences with benefits to both! Enjoy the following pictures of our time together!

There's nothing like the ride home after a great day at the lake with good friends, yummy food and fun times in the water! Here's my 2 sweet boys!
