This was Ryder's prayer tonight...
Dear God,
Thank you for my friends in California and Illinois.
And my friend Nolan. He's in Pre-School with me.
I praise you for helping us build pirate ships and do fun things.
I love you, God.
Amen
So precious I just had to share :)
I've been reading a book called "Prayer Saturated Kids" by Cheryl Sacks and Arlyn Lawrence, and meeting with some fellow mom-friends once a month to discuss it over a yummy potluck breakfast :)

I've been reading a book called "Prayer Saturated Kids" by Cheryl Sacks and Arlyn Lawrence, and meeting with some fellow mom-friends once a month to discuss it over a yummy potluck breakfast :)
In the first chapter we discussed last month, the authors encouraged us to ask God to show us our child's unique gifting and prayer style. This really spoke to me since I sometimes walk away from our time of praying before bed with Ryder, sad that he didn't want to pray out loud. Yes, I realize he's still very young, but our family prays aloud throughout the day regularly... praising God with words...or song (you should hear our concerts sometimes while making Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches!)
The first chapter reminded us that our child are all uniquely designed. This includes the way they may feel most comfortable connecting with God through prayer. This has really got me thinking this month about prayer styles and different ways we can express our hearts to God. Here are a few ways that have come to mind...
Aloud with words
Singing
Using instruments
Drawing God a picture
Writing
Dancing
Being alone and quiet
We all are wired with ways we prefer connecting with the One who made us. There is not one way that is more right than others, but as a mom, friend, sister and wife...I do love sharing those times with those I love. I'm thankful Ryder let me share in his prayer time tonight. In the future, the Lord has reminded me that it is more about HIS time with Ryder than it is about me getting a glimpse into their relationship, but when I DO...those times are like the cherry on the top of the sweet life I get to walk with my kids...I pray more times like this one are in our future together as family.

Great insight from that book. You are lightyears ahead of most of us mama's regarding prayer life of children. Marvelous teachers are the young! "Let the little children come unto Me" Jesus knows the heart;
