We know that these past few weeks with a renewed emphasis on literacy in our home and the homes of Cole's friends from school, have given us all the jump start we needed! I love reading to the boys and Cora, but it's not always easy with varying attention spans :) Ryder would sit as long I I read to him while Cole would rather turn the pages as fast as he could, which inevitably frustrates Ryder!!! Well, we've certainly begun to find a happy medium lately as Ryder's patience grows, and Cole's interest level has risen considerably in hearing the stories! I know too, that Cole seeing Ryder reading by himself has helped jump start his interest for trying it himself. These boys really love each other, and its becoming more and more obvious to John and I each day why God picked these two to be brothers. They are very different, but have already learned so much from each other and grown incredibly because of the influence the other has had on them. And boy, can they wrestle!!! Here they are in matching PJs my grandparents sent :)
I took this picture a few nights ago when John and I found that Cole had snuck out of his room to join Ryder in our bed where Ryder starts out each night before we move him to the room they share. He just wanted to be with his brother :)
Many of you have asked how much we ended up raising in our fundraiser for the PTO at Cole's school, and I'm excited to announce that we did very well for our first one!
We raised a total of $1,538 as a school!!!
That means...
$769 in books for our kids to take home (chosen by the kids)
$307.60 in books for our classrooms (chosen by the teachers)
$461.40 for our PTO to start providing more for our teachers and students as needs arise!!! (Like musical instruments, art supplies and PE equipment)
We were completely humbled, overwhelmed and thankful to have contributed $365 from our sponsors...many of YOU who sent Cole pledges and responded with INCREDIBLE generosity to Cole and his classmates, so THANK YOU!!! From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. Thank for for your sponsorship of him and his friends through your pledges and prayers. We are inspired by your generosity and encouraged by your support of our boy and many like him. You have spoken loudly in his favor and for that I am beyond grateful. The highest compliment someone can pay a mother is to love her children, and for those of you who have loved mine, I am blessed beyond measure. Thank you from us, and from our little reader...asleep on Daddy's shoulder...his favorite place to be!

Love seeing Cole and Ryder asleep next to one another! Indeed, brothers have a special bond. Thanks for sharing about Cole's progress. It's so exciting.
Yeah, that is WONDERFUL news! I am so proud of you guys for starting something so cool and what a great foundation to begin with financially. Cole is too cute reading in his bean bag chair. I love all that is happening in the Burdett household! We love you all!
