Daddy reading with his boys
Here are a few things that have made me LAUGH out loud this past week, wishing each of you was there to witness with me in person!!! These are my FUNNY kids...
Football...
After picking Ryder up from pre-school on Monday, I let the boys play for a while on the playground before taking them home...it was one of the most BEAUTIFUL days we've had in a while and deserved more time! After a few minutes, the "big" kids came out and started playing with them. I'm always amazed at my boys brave little spirits as they join right in with whatever is going on :) A far cry from me when I was younger!
Soon, a group of older boys started up a game of football on the grass. Some of the boys were junior high age and others a bit younger, but none as little as mine. My boys joined right in. They didn't hesitate a bit before running right alongside the big boys going for the football on the field. Then I saw it...Cole grabbed the ball, tucked it under his arm and started running as fast as his little legs could carry him down the field. He was doing great! Somehow, the boys convinced him to pass the ball, which he did, but he hung right in there (as did Ryder) the whole time! When I walked up and said that it was time to go, Cole said, "No!" clearly disappointed I was ending his fun. Again I told him it was time for us to go home and the big boys came over, gave him a high five and Cole said, "Later!" and ran to the car...What a boy!
Here are our boys enjoying the last fire of winter...Ryder decided they'd enjoy their snack while taking in the heat from the fire...he even took off his shirt to really soak it all in!
When we are Daddies...
The other day I was driving the kids home from Cole's school after therapy...I looked back at Ryder and he bursts into tears. I asked him what was wrong and he said the sweetest thing...
"I just realized that when Cole and I are Daddies someday, we're going to have to live apart and I don't want Cole to leave our house." I love how deeply their bond runs in the heart of my 4 year old boy...So PRECIOUS!
Have I mentioned how much Ryder loves being Cole's big brother? In this moment, Cole is sitting on his new big boy "dog" potty while I was asked to leave the bathroom so Ryder could read him a book. Ryder asked Cole to sit, ran and got a few books, set up his little stool and read to him until they were finished. I'm not sure if I've seen anything cuter in all my life! By the way...we are making some serious headway on potty training with Cole! Yippee! Since this picture however, he's decided the dog potty is for Cora (who is actually telling me when she's gone in her diaper now!) and he'll use the toilet with Ryder. Such a little man :)
Cole's Lollipop...
When Cole goes somewhere in the house out of my vision and then becomes silent...that means my little man is usually up to no good :) I absolutely love that sweet thing, but he has a sneaky side to him!!! One day I went into my room looking for my silent 2 year old, and he was hiding between my exercise bike and the wall, laying on his stomach, staring at a wrapped lollipop he was holding in his cute, sneaky little hands. When he heard me walk into the room, without looking into my eyes, he slowly lowered his head to the ground, covering his eyes! The battle between good and evil starts young!
I officially have TWO big, bike-riding boys now!!! Cole has learned to ride his bike and couldn't be prouder...can you guess what my next post will be about? Keep your eyes peeled for video of our favorite 2 year old tearing down the sidewalk!
The New Baby...
Ryder just loves his little sister so much (Coley too, but at this moment Cole was out of the room and I was holding Cora while he was sweet talking her) He said to me..."Mom, I hope our new baby is another baby girl. That way Cole could be a brother to Cora and I could be a brother to the new baby!"
Here are some new pictures of our girl :) She loves playing outside with the boys, crawling on the grass, looking for rocks, riding trucks...you know...everything girly :) In all honesty, she DOES love all of that since it's around her to play with, but she is our little princess too who loves her shoes, baby-doll, having her hands clean (not dirty!) and talking on the phone. She holds the phone up on top of her shoulder, and says, "Hi Dadd-n!" (This is Cora-talk for "Daddy")...oh did I mention she's a Daddy's girl ALL the way!!!
