Summer is HERE!

In Illinois, schools get out earlier for summer break than in California! I'm used to school lasting through much of June, but here in IL, Summer is here! Just in time, too...the temperatures are creeping up into the high 80s most days, which doesn't sound like a big deal for my California friends, but here in IL we have HUMIDITY which makes those high 80s feel MUCH less tolerable than our 90 degree California days :)

We've had a few days already that have been too hot to be outside once lunchtime is upon us...here's how we've been keeping ourselves busy in the house!

A little painting day...they were thrilled since I haven't brought the paints out in a while :)

Cora threw one of the worst tempter tantrums I've ever seen her throw when I finally took her paints away. She LOVED painting!!! More than either of the boys, she is definitely our one who LOVES to explore without minding the mess that is sometimes involved! Don't get me wrong, Cole loves to explore as well, but I don't remember either of the boys being so curious at such a young age. Now, Cole is our roamer...he loves to go to new places we haven't been in a while and check it out. He's always changing our path to the park! It's SO good for me to be lead out of my routine! Ryder is a bit more like me, so I'm sure thankful God gave us a boy who definitely "breaks the mold!"

After mowing the lawn this past weekend, we were SO excited to set up the slip n slide and little pool for the kids to play with! I had SO much fun sitting and resting after a morning of pulling weeds while John mowed. Here are the little munchkins now :)
