Our little girl is finally here! She arrived on her due date and her big brother's 5th birthday! Here is the story of her amazing arrival...
My contractions started at about 3pm on August 27th, but were far apart and very sporadic. They definitely felt more intense though, which gave me an inkling that this time they were real! After a month of Braxton Hicks contractions, and a few times of being up early, ready to go to the hospital only to have them dissipate after a shower and some walking around, it was nice to feel something that felt more like the real thing :)
I went to bed that night but we were fully prepared to go to the hospital when my contractions were closer together, since they had been pretty consistent (though still far apart) through most of the evening. Around 10pm they started to pick up so I made sure my bags were all packed, and went to bed. I had already set out the kids clothes for the next morning, wrapped all of Ryder's birthday presents and had them sitting on the fireplace ready to open the next morning :) He was SO excited to open his presents on his birthday, and I wanted him to still be able to do that even if we weren't with him! My mom was all ready to make his day special in our absence...what a blessing she has been!!!
I woke up at 2AM with pretty strong contractions that were now about 10 minutes apart. I jumped in the shower and for the first time in a month, they didn't go away! In fact, I dressed pretty quickly since they began to get closer together quickly! John got dressed quickly, I said goodbye to my mom, we hopped in the car at 2:30AM and at this point they were 5 minutes a part and stronger. John called the hospital from the car and we were both getting excited...it was really happening! Our little girl was almost here!
We arrived at the hospital at 2:45AM, got checked in and by 3:30AM I was laboring in the jacuzzi tubs (my favorite place in this hospital...it's like going to the spa, they are so nice!) I was only there for 20 minutes before I knew I was going into the transition part of labor...it was almost time for Miss Rylee to make her appearance! Out of the jacuzzi tubs and back to our room we went, for a quick transition to pushing in the waterbirth tub which John is siting in front of in the picture below...
Waterbirth was new for me and I wasn't there long since she was born 5 minutes after I entered!
What a beautiful thing to hold a new little life in your arms...
She was born at 4:13, and after she ate well for the first time, Daddy held her and watched the sun rise from the 10th floor of our favorite hospital in the world...the same place where our Coley got his new ears and where Cora-bean was born.
So precious, right from the start...
A few hours later, my mom brought the rest of the clan to the hospital to visit their new baby sister...they couldn't have been more excited!
Birthday buddies!
5 years old and 5 hours old :)
Cole is SO gentile with her...it is precious!
Cora couldn't wait to get out of the stroller and hold her baby sister!
All 4 for the first time
