...because life is a string of divine moments...

Sometimes we make a choice to walk down a certain path because it makes perfect sense.  We've made our pro/con list and everything lines up.  There's a clear way to go.  We've "figured it out."

Other times we turn down a path, just because we hear God tell us to.  Just because "He said so."  The answers aren't all there and our mental pro and con list looks about even.  It really is a toss up according to what we know.  These are some of the most nerve-wrecking times for me, but some of the sweetest...  because it is here when I have to lean on His wisdom and listen attentively to His voice above the argument going on in my own head as I toss around worldly wisdom...

2 Corinthians 12:9 tells us that HIS power is made perfect in our weakness.  In the times we find ourselves the most physically, emotionally, and mentally weak, we can find HOPE and actually find ourselves in the arms of the ONE who promises to plant HIS strength right in the middle of the times we feel most ill-equipped to handle what's ahead.

And sometimes...out of those confusing, unclear, "it's a toss up" sort of moments when we really don't know which way to turn...the very best result surfaces from our "undone-ness."  We find ourselves on our faces before the One who knows the way, and find He opens doors that never made our pro/con list at all.    And what may have looked like a "foolish" choice before, rises to the top to become HIS choice for you, for his GLORY and for the furthering of His KINGDOM on this earth...

Like moving out of state and away from family with your two boys and sweet baby girl on the way so you can live on a graduate assistant salary while your husband spend his days studying for his doctorate...
But God said GO.
But, Lord, it doesn't make any sense!
And still He whispered, I see the whole picture...trust me with this part.  There are things about your boy you still don't know.  There is healing for him on the other side of your obedience...

Just today, our pediatrician (the same one who told us to have Cole's hearing tested before we left for Illinois...) told me how amazing it was that Cole received his CI's so quickly...how that never would've happened if we were to have stayed...

We don't understand your way, Lord...but we trust You.

 1 Corinthians 1:27
But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong.

So when I come to a fork in the road, and really, absolutely don't know what to do...I know what GOD wants me to do.  Fall on my face, with my heart outstretched, and roll out the scroll of my life's plans once again, asking HIM to take rightful place as editor-in-chief of that which was never mine to begin with.

May God bless you and draw near to you as you seek HIS way for your steps, opening your eyes and heart to the way less-traveled, for HIS fame and for HIS glory and so you can experience the deep joy it is to walk in full devotion to the One who wrote your story...Amen.

  1. Oh, this is so true. Sometimes we must be obedient when there is really no "reasonable explanation" for it. I love how God orchestrated Cole's journey to hearing. What an amazing God we serve!
