Sometimes when something is easy, I hear people refer to it as,
a walk in the park...

That's cute.  But our walks in the park are anything but easy these days :)
Worth it?  Yes.  But not easy.
Maybe it's because we choose not to walk, but to ride :)
My Cole would have it no other way...he LOVES to ride...

Our park dates include 4 bikes and one cute munchkin filled trailer...

Daddy always makes sure the tires are ready for the ride...

Once we climb the trail to the park, we unload the trailer which not only held to beauties,
but 2 kites, 1 soccer ball, 1 football and a bag full of snacks.
There's no such thing as "packing light" these days :)

I love watching the boys try to make the kite fly...
especially when there isn't much wind to lift it's wings.

They try and try again, never wanting to give up...

And then...when they choose to work together, we have lift off!

Do you see the look on Cole's face?
Wide, bright eyes...eyebrows raised...tongue out...
This is code for, "I'm in heaven right now."

But sometimes, life doesn't work out the way we want it to.
Even with all the hard work in the world, our high-flying kite gets stuck in the trees.
What then?
Ask someone taller, and a whole lot brighter to help you get it down...
Especially when you know, HE's been there before.

There is nothing I want more in this life, than to know that my children walk in the TRUTH.
And the truth is this...
Life isn't always going to be easy.  In fact if you're following Christ, it won't be.
He loves us too much to leave us the way we are, and the process of transformation is often uncomfortable.  It reminds me of my kids complaining of  their legs hurting.
"Mom!  My legs are sore!"
I know it's because they are growing...something they desperately want!  They love showing me how much taller they are then the person younger than them, but if they knew that growing was painful, I wonder if they'd choose to stay short.  I don't think so.  I hope not.  I hope that if there's anything they learn in the years they spend under our roof, it's that growing closer to Jesus and following Him is worth all the growing pains in the world.  The destination is worth the journey.

By the grace of God, I think they'll get it :)

I'm praying that every one of the little growing bodies in my care embraces the truth...

that though life doesn't always feel like a walk in the park...

knowing Jesus is worth every step taken and growing pain felt along the way.
He's just THAT good.
He really is.
The unfailing, genuine, purposeful, RISEN Jesus.
That's my God.  And I pray daily, He'll be there's as well.
