What a year it was...

It's hard to believe I don't have a kindergartener in the house anymore...I have a 1st grade boy who is more on his way to 2nd grade than 1st in so many ways :)  Starting my boys in kindergarten a year "late" was always our plan since they both had summer birthdays.  Ryder started the year older than most of his classmates, and even though he walked through the door reading and writing, I am still so glad he started right when he did.  It has given him the chance to grow into a leadership role in many ways and it's given us a chance to know where to pray for his growth in personal areas of his life.  It's been a growing and stretching year for us all, and especially for Ryder as he was "on his own" for much of each day, working on making good choices apart from Mom and Dad :)

Things I know he'll remember about this year...

Field Trips, friends and so much fun!

His First Field Trip was to Amy's Farm...

Hearing about what was in store during their visit to the farm...

We pet lots of animals...

And even got to milk a cow!

One of the Farmers shows the class why it's called "Rainbow" Chard, then they get to go looking for their own!

He's a BIG fan of rainbow chard now!

Two of his best buddies...

He had so much fun on the farm!

Another fun memory was the Kindergarten Performance...
Here is Ryder and his friend, ready with their sunglasses!

One clip that shows a cute song...

At Open House, Ryder was so proud to walk around the room, showing us all he had worked to accomplish that year :)  Even though I had come to help every Tuesday in his classroom and helped him make most of the crafts that were hanging, I loved seeing how excited he was to show us everything!

He's in the 100 word club!

Their class studied Japan at the end of the year, and we walked into Open House to the hallway being transformed into Mt. Fuji!

He was so proud to show us all the journals he'd completed that year :)

As well as his published writing...

And the woman who God used to make it all happen...our beloved Mrs. Wallace :)

Although we are homeschooling next year and I'm so looking forward to it, (for so many reasons I'll share with you in an upcoming post...), we will always look back on this year with fondness, remembering how much Ryder LOVED playing on the playground with his friends most of all...friends that even as we change the way school looks for our family next year...we will be intentional to stay connected with!

Thank you, Jesus for a great Kindergarten year for my boy!
After all, he is yours, and I can tell.  He resembles you a little more each day.
I love you.
Thank you for giving me the chance to be called mother to such a precious child of yours.
