It's been quite a whirlwind around here lately!
We closed one school year and have been LOVING our summer together, but before too much time passes, I wanted to share with you about John's last concert to close out his first year at Cal Poly Pomona as Assistant Professor of Instrumental Music.
My grandparents and Aunt joined us for the event...
What a blessing it is to be able to sit together through a concert since we all live within driving distance again!
It really was a wonderful concert. One of the most memorable moments was hearing the band play the Olympic Fanfare, since our friends Bryan (Olympic Gold Medalist) and Sarah came to support John as well...My grandparents were honored to meet Bryan in person.
Another memorable piece was a haunting depiction of the Allied bombing of Dresden in 1945, followed by a newly commissioned piece inspired by the work of the Red Cross around the world.
It was especially meaningful to listen to it all with my grandparents who lived through it all.
What a blessing to enjoy such a great concert with our friends and family!
We're looking forward to starting another great year coming up soon!
