The school year is in full-swing at our house!
It's been a very busy month and a half with the beginning of school for everyone, (including very busy Fall teaching schedule for John) and the start-up of AWANA at our church which I help run! Whew! So needless to say, the moments and photos have been building up around here and in the next few weeks, I'm hoping to update you on all the fun we've been having!
We work with Sky Mountain Charter School and really love it. This year, Ryder is technically a 1st grader and Cole is not yet registered as a student, though we are working on Pre-Kindergarten level skills with him in preparation for an official year of Kinder next year. Cora has started preschool three mornings a week at the same sweet school Cole attended last year, and these photos were taken right before her school started, hence the three kids in every shot!
We're in a different routine now, but enjoy the glimpse of our official start back in August!
While we were waiting on some of our curriculum to arrive, we were starting out slow and getting used to our new routine.
These photos were taken in our first few days...
Ryder wanted to take this one :)
Ryder's first writing of the year..."How I lost my tooth"
An ABC Hop...
Ryder is calling out a letter, then Cole and Cora hop to the right one!
Everyone loves a little Starfall break :)
Ryder is watching Cole match the number on his clothespin to the correct number of dots...
Our first science experiment given to us by our Charter School, was to make a solar oven!
What better to make than, s'mores!
Recording the change to the chocolate and marshmallows every 7 minutes for an hour...
And then...it started to rain!
That definitely affected the outcome of our experiment.
It's amazing to look back on these pictures and realize how much more has happened since then! Life just flies by, doesn't it? My next post will be about our curriculum choices for the year since we're fallen into a great rhythm seven weeks in...and yes, it's taken that long!
The curriculum you see Cole using in all the above photos, is from Confessions of a Homeschooler. It's her K4 curriculum intended for that year right before Kindergarten...perfect for our Coley! He loves how creative the activities are. It has given us a wealth of activities to pull from everyday!
More on curriculum to come in the next post...
Until then, know that things are sailing along well in our corner of the world and we're praying the same for YOU! It's really an incredible thing to experience the blessing that comes on the other side of having FAITH to believe God has something good for us when He asks us to trust him with a big life-change.
God asked us to homeschool this year, and I am SO glad He did. No more waking Rylee up from every nap to run to the next pick-up, we have time to explore more of the interests of our individual kids, and my boys get to learn alongside each other all day long...such a gift. I can't wait to share more with you real SOON!
